Balance Camp-POSTPONED

Due to the torrential amounts of rain we have recieved here at Tashanor park over the past month we have to postpone the Balance camp until a later date. It is just to wet underfoot!
Sorry for any inconvience this may have caused those who were planning on attending-all other workshops will go ahead as planned from October–and new dates for the camp will be posted on our calendar shortly. Check out these pictures of our big dam overflowing and our new river!!!

SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT! - read below from Animal Genetics site re horse colour genetics

6/10/10: We have changed the calculator to take into account that Roan and Tobiano are mutations of the KIT gene found on horse chromosome 3 and thus will not occur on the same branch of a horses chromosome pair. This means that a horse that carries both Tobiano and Roan can only be heterozygous for each gene and will pass one or the other to its offspring and not both or none. This is also the case for Sabino1 and the known Dominant White mutations which are also mutations of the KIT gene. We have not yet made the change for Tobiano/Sabino or Roan/Sabino combinations but plan to in the near future.

This means our Paint Stallion Heza Blue Tom Cat can not throw a solid foal he will always produce either classic roans or Tobiano foals from any coloured mare!

What a great time we had on our trip to Tamworth! Q10 provided us with a chance to see in action some of the best horseman in Aus, if not the world! Including IAN FRANCIS, riding One Roan Peptos(pictured above). Ian was the stand out for us, what a legend!

January 30th Workshop
A fun day was had by all who attended our first (A)ttitude and (L)anguage Workshop for the year. The focus was primarily on improving our leadership skills and getting those horses yielding through the middle of their bodies, not just hips and heads.
Thankyou to all who attended and your continuing commitment to bettering your horsemanship! Stick with it!

2010 - New Year- Fresh start- Time to put some B.A.L.A.N.C.E into your horsemanship!

For all those who want to give our Balanced Horsemanship Program a go for the first time, we have a great line up of Balance Workshops and Clinics this year.

Starting with a fullday (A)ttitude & (L)anguage Workshop on the 30th of this month.

If you are interested in finding out what the language of horses is really about and then how to apply the simple steps that it takes to improve your communication with your horse this is a great place to start.

Do you think/feel that the word ‘dominance’ is a negative? Your horse’s world is about dominance and it is a huge part of his language, if you can’t learn how to dominant him in the right way and become a real leader for him he has to take over and dominate you because that is what his instinct demands of him. He has no choice, if he is in a herd of 2 and you are not leading, then he will take over! What are the signs that this is happening? How can you identify if you have a leadership problem or a resistance problem? All this and more will be fully covered at this workshop.
